The governance we do not deserve

The court was in session. An old lady had been caught stealing some bread and honey from a restaurant.
Judge: Have you stolen?
Old Lady: Yes
Judge: Do you know how big a crime stealing is?
Old Lady: Yes
Judge: Why did you still steal?
Old Lady: I was starving for the past one week. I have two orphaned grandchildren who also had nothing to eat. I could not bear their hunger and weeping, so I stole.
The judge sentenced the old lady to a public punishment of 50 lashes of whip and a fine of 500 dinars.
The next day when the punishment was going to be administered to the old lady, the judge came forward and said, “In a state where an old helpless lady is forced to steal, the lions share of the responsibility of the crime goes to the ruler of the state, and since I represent the ruler, I deserve 20 of the 50 lashes.”
After 20 lashes were given to the judge, he said that the state mayor, the food minister and the officials were equally responsible for the crime, so the remaining lashes were to be distributed equally among them.
Next he looked at the people gathered and declared that a society which forces an old woman to steal, lets orphans go hungry needs to be held accountable and fined 100 dinars from the attendees.
With the money collected, the fine was paid, the restaurant was compensated and the remaining was given to the old woman. She was asked to visit the ruler in the next month so that the ruler could apologize.
When the lady traveled to the kings court, the same judge came down from the rulers seat and said, “That day I apologized as a judge, today I apologize as the ruler for not having been able to take care of you and your orphaned grandchildren.”
This is the governance we should strive for. But hey, let us do Hindu Muslim instead, lets debate over useless issues, lets do “what about.. “, lets do fake news, lets do rich and poor, lets stay blind, stick to our dogmas and just.. make dalgona coffee.
